Parent Coaching
We understand that parenting a child with unique learning, behavioral, or developmental needs can be both rewarding and challenging. Our parent coaching services, led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), provide families with the guidance, tools, and strategies they need to support their child’s growth and success.
What is parent coaching?
Parent coaching is designed to empower caregivers with effective, evidence-based strategies to manage behaviors, build positive routines, and enhance communication. Whether you’re navigating concerns related to autism, ADHD, executive functioning difficulties, anxiety, or other developmental challenges, our approach is tailored to your family’s specific needs.
Through individualized coaching sessions, we help parents:
✅ Understand the reasons behind their child’s behaviors.
✅ Learn proactive strategies to prevent and reduce challenging behaviors.
✅ Develop structured routines and reinforcement techniques.
✅ Improve communication and social interactions at home and in the community.
✅ Foster independence and emotional regulation.
✅ Gain confidence in managing everyday parenting challenges.
When can parent coaching be helpful?
Parent coaching can be beneficial in a wide range of situations, particularly when parents are seeking practical strategies. Here are some common scenarios where parent coaching can make a meaningful difference:
Managing Challenging Behaviors
➡️ Your child frequently has meltdowns, tantrums, or outbursts, and you’re unsure how to respond effectively.
➡️ Transitions between activities (such as leaving the house, bedtime, or meal times) often lead to power struggles or resistance.
➡️ Your child engages in aggression, self-injury, or property destruction, and you need a plan to promote safer behaviors.
Building Independence & Daily Living Skills
➡️ Your child struggles with self-care tasks like brushing teeth, getting dressed, or toileting, and you want to encourage more independence.
➡️ You want to establish consistent bedtime, mealtime, or homework routines but face ongoing resistance.
➡️ Your child has difficulty following instructions or completing multi-step tasks, making everyday activities stressful.
Supporting Emotional Regulation & Coping Skills
➡️ Your child becomes overwhelmed easily, especially in new or unpredictable situations.
➡️ You want to help your child develop healthy coping mechanisms for frustration, anxiety, or sensory overload.
➡️ Your child engages in repetitive behaviors or stimming, and you want to understand how to support them effectively.
Navigating School & Community Challenges
➡️ Your child struggles in structured environments, such as school or daycare, and you need guidance on how to collaborate with teachers and staff.
➡️ Your child has difficulty with turn-taking, sharing, or waiting, leading to challenges in social settings.
➡️ You’re preparing your child for a big life change (such as starting school, a move, or a new sibling) and want strategies to ease the transition.
What is our approach?
Our parent coaching services are grounded in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), an evidence-based framework that focuses on improving socially significant behaviors. Parent coaching is a collaborative, hands-on approach where our BCBA works directly with parents to:
🔹 Assess individual needs – We take the time to understand your child’s strengths, challenges, and daily routines.
🔹 Teach practical strategies – Parents learn step-by-step techniques that can be used in real-life situations.
🔹 Provide feedback – Through coaching sessions, we help fine-tune strategies for maximum success.
🔹 Monitor progress and adapt – We adjust strategies as needed to meet your child’s evolving needs.
Our goal is to equip parents with lifelong skills that promote a supportive, structured, and positive home environment—leading to lasting improvements in behavior and quality of life for the entire family.
